Visible Leadership

Thursday March 19, 2009 #105

“If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination.  The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying, Here comes number seventy-one!”

~Richard M. Devos

From JAMmer JT:  The current economic situation reminds me of something I learned early in my career-true leaders are most visible during the most difficult times. What have we shown our teams today about surviving this economic challenge? There is no better time to drive performance and results than when things get tough. The true leader understands how to use that circumstance to build effectiveness, dedication and desire for success!

Thank you, JT.  It’s easy to be a “good” leader when the economic winds are at your back.  It is when times are difficult that great leaders show themselves.  Never has there been a time where a leader’s persistent drive and vision of a better tomorrow couldn’t be embraced by their team to achieve what was thought to be impossible.  The current economic situation will turn.  And when it does, those companies and teams led by such leaders will enjoy the greatest success.  In the meantime, these same folks will achieve relatively strong results while others fail.
