Offer encouragement instead of ridicule
Tuesday November 13, 2012 #471
“A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.”
~William Saroyan
It appears to be natural for many to revel in others’ misfortunes, often publicly. This does nothing for anyone. The reveler looks small, the misfortunate one feels worse, and anyone around is dragged down as well. But a bit of encouragement helps everyone. The misfortunate is given strength to try again. The encourager is warmed, and those around look kindly upon the encourager and naturally follow the lead to encourage as well. Be the one who offers encouragement instead of ridicule.
By the way, praising success is pretty awesome too…
