Executive Reflection

Tuesday December 17, 2013 #585

“Most executives I know are so action-oriented, or action-addicted, that time for reflection is the first casualty of their success.”

~Margaret Heffernan

executive reflection

As we move towards the end of one year and the beginning of another, it is important to reflect on our year.  What did we set out to accomplish for business, for our people, and for ourselves?  In this reflection it is important to take enough time to be realistic and give ourselves credit for all that we accomplished (intended or not), as well as the courage to accept responsibility for what did not go as intended.  Think about those who aided you along the way and determine how to thank them, even if silently in your thoughts.  These should also include people who affected you in a negative way – thanking them for the lessons learned (probably just in your thoughts).  Don’t let the year end without reflection to ensure you learn from your experiences and determine the ways you might apply the lessons learned in the year ahead.
