The Power of Imagination

Tuesday September 2, 2014 #658

“An idea is salvation by imagination.”

~Frank Lloyd Wright

In every day we are challenged on our progress toward our personal, professional, and spiritual goals.  What gets us through these challenges are ideas – our own, and those inspired or offered by others.  Our real task is to keep our minds and hearts open to our own ability to ideate and to the ideas of others, so at the moment of challenge we have vast resources to call upon for just the idea we need in that moment.  Are you open to your own genius and the genius of others?  Open up!

The Opposite of Courage

Thursday November 21, 2013 #578

The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice – it is conformity.”

~Rollo May

There are always opportunities to improve your situation, new ideas to help others, and cool things to be discovered and invented.  You have the power to affect amazing positive change, but you must have the courage to act.  Don’t get lost in conforming to popular thinking and common beliefs.  If you can imagine it, you can begin to take the actions to make your dreams possible.  What can you do today to move yourself, or someone or something you care about forward?

Acting outside the box

Tuesday October 30, 2012 #467

“It isn’t enough to think outside the box. Thinking is passive. Get used to acting outside the box.”

~Tim Ferriss

There is such a push today for innovative and creative ideas.  We’re constantly encouraged to ‘think outside of the box’ and imagine new possibilities.  But like all thinking exercises, nothing happens with those thoughts unless action is taken.  Before you spend more time in creative brainstorming sessions, look back at your notes from the last several meetings and see what you can act upon now.

“Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody else has thought.”

~Jonathan Swift

We can all contribute more to our own growth and the growth of our family, work group, company, and community.  We can maximize that contribution by approaching our routines with fresh eyes.  Our daily tasks and human interactions can be dramatically improved if we approach them with a different view.  For each part of your next day, think about how you can approach it in a more effective way.  Whether a task, or an interaction, what can you do to make it better?  You may be amazed at what you “see”.

Exercise your imagination daily

Tuesday December 6, 2011 #374

“Imagination grows by exercise and, contrary to common belief, is more powerful in the mature than in the young.”

~Paul McCartney

Every day is an opportunity to use your imagination to reinvent yourself and the ways you approach people and processes.  Look at today’s calendar and to-do list.  Pick one appointment, meeting, or project.  Reflect on it and imagine the best possible outcome.  What could you do to impact the people and processes involved to help secure a better result?  Pick at least one thing and try it.  Afterwards, assess the result.  More than likely you will be energized by your positive impact and be motivated to try something with tomorrow’s calendar!

Exercise your imagination daily and discover its power.
