Liking Yourself

We are bombarded daily with reasons to be unsatisfied with who and what we are, to doubt and even to dislike ourselves. We are told we don’t eat right, don’t exercise enough or properly, don’t dress fashionably (enough), and don’t have the perfect body shape, smile, hair color & style, etc. etc. etc. No wonder there is so much depression, anxiety and billions spent on products to make us look and feel closer to some unreachable ideal.

Enough! Liberate yourself from these ridiculous claims and perceptions. Clearly, we should do what we can to be healthy through a balanced diet and reasonable exercise and do what we can to present our best self physically and attitudinally. But we should do so using our given and learned gifts and our real features to present the best of ourselves, not try to carve ourselves into something or someone else. The only way for this to be done, is to start by accepting ourselves and in so doing, truly like ourselves.

Be rebellious. Like yourself.
