The Power of Imagination

Tuesday September 2, 2014 #658

“An idea is salvation by imagination.”

~Frank Lloyd Wright

In every day we are challenged on our progress toward our personal, professional, and spiritual goals.  What gets us through these challenges are ideas – our own, and those inspired or offered by others.  Our real task is to keep our minds and hearts open to our own ability to ideate and to the ideas of others, so at the moment of challenge we have vast resources to call upon for just the idea we need in that moment.  Are you open to your own genius and the genius of others?  Open up!

The power of an inspirational dream

Thursday December 6, 2012 #478

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming after all is a form of planning.”

~Gloria Steinem

Your role as leader of people, or even as the leader of your own life, is to provide a consistent vision of a desired future state.  A future with hope, passion, and possibility.  Often, belief in that vision requires a leap of imagination – a dream of what could be if only we learn, develop, and strive with perseverance.  Never forget the power of an inspirational dream.  Pragmatism is required for execution.  But the dream is necessary to fuel the inspired enthusiasm to get you through the various obstacles to come.

Exercise your imagination daily

Tuesday December 6, 2011 #374

“Imagination grows by exercise and, contrary to common belief, is more powerful in the mature than in the young.”

~Paul McCartney

Every day is an opportunity to use your imagination to reinvent yourself and the ways you approach people and processes.  Look at today’s calendar and to-do list.  Pick one appointment, meeting, or project.  Reflect on it and imagine the best possible outcome.  What could you do to impact the people and processes involved to help secure a better result?  Pick at least one thing and try it.  Afterwards, assess the result.  More than likely you will be energized by your positive impact and be motivated to try something with tomorrow’s calendar!

Exercise your imagination daily and discover its power.

Be the Star you are

Thursday August 21, 2008 #61

“Here are 3 sure-fire steps that will take you from wishing upon a star to being one:  Imagine your dreams as if they already exist.  Speak as if they already exist.  And act as if they already exist.”

 ~Mike Dooley

More and more evidence points to the ability we all have to make significant positive change in our lives through intentional thoughts and actions. The key is the “action” part.  The over-hyped book & video “The Secret” teaches that if we just imagine hard enough we will get everything we want.  So why doesn’t it work for everyone?  Because the hard part is actually taking the actions that precede results.  You can imagine all you want, but if you fail to take daily actions you can’t be surprised when nothing happens.

So imagine and imagine well.  Speak and speak well.  But act, and act well to truly achieve that which you imagine.
