The Power of Intention
Thursday September 13, 2012 #454
“Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
JAMmer JK shared today’s quote which reminds us to be intentional about our thoughts. If you know what you want from your life, it pays to think those thoughts that drive the actions that build the habits that form your character which delivers your destiny.
If you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, intentionally replace some of these with positive versions. Over time, your positive intentions will drown out more and more of your self-limiting negativity. Don’t feel badly if this is where you are – it is human nature for most to be our worst critic and to lean toward negative thoughts. What are you thinking about?
Be Kind to Someone Today!
Tuesday September 11, 2012 #453
“Kindness is a hard thing to give away. It keeps coming back to the giver.”
~Ralph Scott
It is worth the reminder: Be kind to someone today! It is so obvious from our own experience that being kind vs. being aloof or cruel is enriching for you and for the object of your kindness. However, in our hectic and anxious lives, we often forget this simple truth and act in ways that belie our desired kind intent. What to do? Act intentionally in kindness. Spend the next hour thinking intentionally about providing a kind reaction in every situation. Let this be the start of a kindness habit. You know you can do it, and when you do, it will come back to you in waves.
Finding Yourself
Thursday September 6, 2012 #452
“Some people say they haven’t yet found themselves. But the self is not something one finds; it is something one creates.”
~Thomas Szasz
We read about people endlessly seeking their ‘true self’ through serial relationships, multiple jobs and/or degrees, retreats, etc., etc. Is this you? The reality is you don’t need to look any further than yourself. You have been there all along. Take some time with yourself and determine your core values and beliefs. From there, through experiences and relationships which hold true to these values and beliefs, build a stronger you which is consistent with your most authentic self.
How to develop decisiveness
Tuesday September 4, 2012 #451
The way to develop decisiveness is to start right where you are, with the very next question you face.
~Napoleon Hill
We admire leaders who make the difficult decisions with seeming ease. We may find ourselves struggling with decisiveness – worried about making the wrong decision, or being confused by the alternatives. To achieve a confident, decisive style, you must begin by educating yourself and gaining experience in the areas where you are called upon to make good decisions. That may be work or personally related. Confidence comes from knowledge and experience, and a bit of courage. Next time you are faced with a question, gather the data you need from your experience and knowledge or by asking others, and then act with decisiveness. To develop decisiveness, make a decision!
You have gifts to share
Thursday August 30, 2012 #450
“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
~Martin Luther King, Jr.
Your family, your workgroup, your organization, your community, and your planet need you. You can start your service by serving yourself: your health, your talents, your spirit. While doing so, choose someone or something to serve with a bit of your time and talent, and possibly your wealth. Regardless of your station in life, you have gifts to share. Please give freely. Yes, you can be great.
Thank you to frequent JAMmer AK for sharing today’s quote.
Inspire Greatness
Tuesday August 28, 2012 #449
“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
~Paulo Coelho
I have seen this in myself and those around me. By focusing on improving ourselves, we create the environment for others to improve as well. Inspire greatness by being the best you!
